UMKC School of Law hosted Professor Bob Freilich as the featured speaker of the John B. Gage Lecture Series

Professor Robert Freilich, Ruby M. Hulen Professor Emeritus
University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law

Professor Freilich discussed the sustainability movement focusing on how the new Stimulus and Transportation Acts encourage states and localities to adopt sustainable energy policies. He focused on specific state, city-county, and regional plans that have been successfully implemented and will conclude with some suggestions for the Kansas City region.

He is the author of the leading texts on sustainable and green development. He recently completed The 21st Century Land Development Code (APA, 2008), which is being adopted across the nation, and is co-author of the leading casebook in the field: Cases and Materials on Land Use (West, 5th Ed. 2008). This year he has completed From Sprawl to Sustainable Growth: Successful Energy, Transportation, New Urbanism and Green Development (ABA, 2009). He has authored more than 100 articles and spoken at hundreds of conferences nationwide. He lives in Los Angeles and practices land use law at the firm of Freilich & Popowitz. He is currently a visiting Professor of Law at UCLA and USC Schools of Law.
