John T. Maughmer U.S. Magistrate Judge United States District Court Western District of Missouri Hon. John T. Maughmer received his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri at Columbia in 1977 and his J.D. degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1980. He was the Chief Magistrate Judge for the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri from September 1988 until December 31, 2005. Before joining the federal bench, he was a partner at the firm now known as Lathrop and Gage in the litigation and environmental law departments. He served as a law clerk to the Honorable Elmo B. Hunter from 1980-1982. He is a former member of the Subcommittee on Model Civil Jury Instructions for the Eighth Circuit.
