Professor Murphy joins the law school as an Assistant Clinical Professor and Legal Director of the Midwestern Innocence Project. Her passion for representing the indigent began with the Federal Defenders Office of Eastern Washington and Idaho. Continuing with a prior interest in capital defense, Professor Murphy worked in various state and federal capital habeas units in Florida, Pennsylvania, and Nevada. Her career allowed her to argue before the Florida Supreme Court and work on several cases resulting in exoneration or reduced sentences.
Professor Murphy obtained her legal degree from the University of Michigan. She also obtained honors in her joint B.A. degrees in History and Political Science from the University of Michigan.
