Nancy received her B.A. in 1974
from Florida Atlantic University
and her M.L.S. in 1989 from the
University of Missouri-Columbia.
She received her interdisciplinary Ph.D. degree in
Education Administration from UMKC in May 2001. She was
the Serials/Acquisitions Librarian
at the Miller Nichols Library before
coming to the Leon E. Bloch Law
Library in 1990 as the Cataloging Librarian. In October 2004, she became
the Director of Technical Services for the Law Library. She was elected as the Chair of the UMKC
Librarians' Council in 2005. She has served as one of two UMKC IFC
representatives to the UM System since 2005. Dr. Stancel is a member of the UMKC
Faculty Grievance Panel. She has served two terms as secretary of the
UMKC Faculty Senate. On the national level, she was chosen to serve one term on OCLC's Collections and Technical Services Advisory Committee
and she chaired the MLNC/OCLC Users Group and served as secretary for that
organization for two terms. She was the Chair for the UM
MERLIN Quality Control Committee in 2001.
