Grades for Seminar in Pre-Twentieth Century Famous Trials will be based 50% on an in-class objective examination and 50% on a written assignment.
The exam will cover the assigned material and issues discussed in class.  It will be given in the last regularly scheduled class for the semester.
The written assignment is to write and answer a series of ten questions about one of the pre-20th century trials (except the trial of Jesus) covered during the semester or that appears on the Famous Trials website.  You can see a sample Q & A page by clicking on the following link:

You will be graded both on the quality of your questions and the quality of your answers.  The entire assignment, questions and answers, should be no more than 1400 words.  Some of the questions may be ones raised in class discussion, but others should be ones you've come up with on your own.  The assignment is due the last class of the semester.
